Camp fire barbecue
On the last evening following a game searching for the teachers, there was a camp fire with songs and barbecue.
Skiing
Preparing for dry slope skiing was a lot more complex than expected. We were weighed and measured for boots, hats and skis. Our ski attachments were individually adjusted so they break away from the boot easily when we fall. On the slope we were taught how to control our movement and climb the slope before sliding down. It was no time until jumps were being attempted then dips. After a juice break the ski tow was started and some tried being pulled up the hill and sliding down - great fun!
Lois shows Mr Flett's group how to attach the ski to boot.
Meanwhile Freddie shows the other group how to climb up the slope.
Ingrid on her first run down the slope.

Canoeing in Aviemore
On the 16th of May we drove to Aviemore for canoeing on the river. After some training to control the canoes we gingerly stepped in and tried paddling upstream. We paddled around the pillar of a bridge then against the current until we found an eddy. Lois talked about how they form. Some tried new seat positions in the canoes before we headed further upstream, then drifted back down. Nobody capsized (or as some say "Tipsized") so we were quite dry when the group reloaded the canoes.
